about

Socrates Consulting was established in 1987 by Hans-Jaap Moes, who left AT&T and Philips Telecommunications as an HR-manager and Assistent to the VP of HR. The focus was on Recruitment, Training and HR-Consulting, Projects concerned recruitment and training development and execution for different clients, development of a HRM study for the University of Amsterdam, training more than 100 start-ups for the IMK (Institute for Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises) and many training programmes with De Baak and the PION Foundation. Leadership programmes were organised in the Himalayas and small businesses were supported with "home-coaching". In 1998, Socrates, was taken over, with 6 employees, by Deloitte Consulting. Hans-Jaap became Senior HR Director EMEA for Deloitte Consulting and led a European HR team of more than 25 HR professionals. He supported the growth of Deloitte Consulting in Europe from 450 to 3000 consultants. In 2008 Hans-jaap returned to Socrates and continued consulting and focused more and more on coaching. The name Socrates was chosen because of the philosophy of Socrates and the Socratic dialogue. Elements of the Socratic dialogue are incorporated into the methodology of coaching and consultancy at Socrates. With this background Socrates.coach has added value to many clients; in business and the public sector and more recently with cancer patients via Positive Health coaching. In 2020 a new website is launched as Socrates.coach and new partnerschips are explored to grow the business and spread effective concepts and methodology about coaching and business partnership
